The fact that God has a plan for our minds (and not just for our souls) is critical to our mental well-being. His plans include rescues from the emotional tide pools we commonly get stuck in. Whether it’s bouts of insecurity that keep us in constant turmoil of reassessing our value, or the waves of discouragement that wash over us until we are wearied, or even bitterness that comes from things going wrong over time. Whatever difficulties Colossians 3:2 offers an alternative destination for our minds, away from the disappointments and brokenness of this temporary world. Here’s what it says, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
Philippians 4:8 lays out what this thriving “above” spiritual landscape looks like, “whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”
Blue Skies is a grand exploration into this sacred realm. Much like a hot air balloon that lifts us high into lofty blue heights beyond the dark clouds that often hide its presence, so it is with God’s plans for our minds.
There is so much beauty and expanse to discover. The only prerequisite for this kind of spiritual travel is a believing mind. It does not matter how broken as long it is seeking deeper and higher connection with the Living God. For each and every believer blue skies await.
